About St Nicholas' Church
St Nicholas' is the Church of England parish church for Cramlington, in the old village. The present building of 1868, by the Newcastle firm of Austin and Johnson adapting an earlier Dobson design, replaced a medieval chapel that stood a short distance to the south. It is listed at Grade II, with a tall west tower, stained glass of 1868 by Cottier, a carved rood loft of 1896 and three listed 18th-century monuments in the churchyard.
Sunday services are at 8am (Holy Communion) and 10.30am (informal worship with Sunday School), and the 10.30am service is live-streamed on YouTube. There is a midweek Eucharist on Wednesdays at 10am. Public car parks are nearby at Middle Farm Square and Smithy Square.
