About Northumberlandia

Northumberlandia, known locally as the Lady, is a landform sculpture of a reclining woman on the southern edge of Cramlington, about 34 metres high and 400 metres long. It was designed by the landscape artist Charles Jencks and built by the Banks Group and the Blagdon Estate as part of restoring the neighbouring Shotton surface mine, and opened to the public in 2012. The 46-hectare site around it has grassland, woodland and ponds, and Northumberland Wildlife Trust looks after it.

The site is open from dawn to dusk every day, and the visitor centre, cafe and toilets open daily from 10am to 4pm. Parking is on site, with a suggested donation of £2 per person towards upkeep. Dogs are welcome on a lead. At the time of writing the Trust lists the woodland trail as closed because of a fallen tree, so check its page before planning a longer walk.
