EV Charging in Cramlington

Where to charge an electric car in Cramlington: rapid chargers at Manor Walks, Willow Farm, Northumberlandia, the Brockwell Centre and Moor Farm, slower chargers at Aldi and Percy Street, plus home charging grants and how to pay.

Cramlington.live·

Cramlington was built around the car, and it has a better spread of public chargers than many Northumberland towns. Rapid chargers sit at the shopping centre, at a pub on the business park, at Northumberlandia and at the Brockwell Centre, with slower chargers at a supermarket and on Percy Street.

This guide lists the main public charge points we found on Zapmap in November 2026, grouped by speed. Chargers are added, upgraded and taken out of service all the time, and networks set their own prices, so check the Zapmap app or the operator's app for live availability and tariffs before you set off.

What the speeds mean

  • Slow chargers (up to about 7 kW) suit long stays, such as a few hours' shopping or parking overnight.
  • Fast chargers (roughly 7 to 22 kW) add a useful amount of range in an hour or two.
  • Rapid chargers (50 kW and above) can often take a car from low to around 80% in under an hour, depending on the car and the charger.

Charging while you shop or eat

Manor Walks has the most convenient chargers in town: two rapid Fuuse units, plus slower EV Charge.Online points. Manor Walks parking has no charge and a four-hour limit, which still applies while you charge. Our parking guide has the details.

Willow Farm, the pub and carvery on Northumberland Business Park, has two rapid Evyve chargers, so you can top up over a meal. It is close to the A19, which makes it handy if you are passing through.

McDonald's at Moor Farm has a single InstaVolt rapid charger by the A19 and A189 roundabout. With only one unit, have a back-up in mind at busy times.

Charging on a day out

Northumberlandia on Blagdon Lane has rapid and fast Fuuse chargers in its car park, so you can charge while you walk round the landform sculpture. See our Northumberlandia guide for opening times and the café.

The Brockwell Centre on Northumbrian Road also has rapid and fast Fuuse chargers.

Slower chargers for longer stays

Percy Street has two fast EV Charge.Online units, and Aldi on Great Lime Road has four slow chargers for customers. Just over the boundary in Dudley, the John Willie Sams Centre on Market Street has two fast Zest chargers.

The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital on Northumbria Way has also been listed on Zapmap with chargers on the Mer network. Check the app before relying on them, and remember that hospital parking charges apply.

Paying for a charge

Each network has its own tariff and payment method. Many rapid chargers now take contactless bank cards, and most networks also have their own app. Northumberland County Council's guidance for its own public chargers says that, as of April 2026, its tariff was 68p per kWh on 11 kW and 22 kW chargers and 78p per kWh on 50 kW chargers, with no membership fee. It says you can pay by contactless or app, using the AMP EV app at rapid chargers and an EV Charge Online QR code at slower ones. Other networks charge different rates, so always check the price on the charger or app before you plug in.

Best for:

Parking rules still apply while you charge. Do not leave the car in a charging bay once it has finished, as some operators charge overstay fees.

Charging at home

Most EV drivers do most of their charging at home, usually overnight on a cheaper off-peak electricity tariff. If you have a driveway or garage, a home charger is usually the cheapest and simplest way to charge.

If you rent, or own a flat, the government's EV chargepoint grant can cover 75% of the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint socket, up to a maximum of £500. Check the current eligibility rules on GOV.UK and use an authorised installer.

Staying overnight with an EV

If you are visiting and need to charge overnight, the Holiday Inn Newcastle Gosforth Park at Seaton Burn lists eight EV charging points. Our guide to hotels and places to stay in Cramlington covers the other options.
