Best Indian Restaurants in Cramlington

Where to eat Indian food in Cramlington: Dhamaka at the Brockwell Centre, Lal Qila on Dudley Lane, Bay Leaf and Moti Jheel in Klondyke, plus Red Naga and Annitsford Tandoori for a takeaway.

Cramlington.live·

Curry is the one cuisine Cramlington does in depth. The town has four sit-down Indian restaurants and two dedicated Indian takeaways, spread so that most estates have one within a short drive. Front Street in Klondyke alone has two, a few doors apart. This guide covers all six, with what sets each one apart. For other cuisines, see our best restaurants in Cramlington guide.

We checked each restaurant's own website, where it has one, and its Food Standards Agency hygiene record in November 2026. Several open in the evening only, and published hours often differ between listings, so ring ahead before you set off.

Dhamaka

Dhamaka at the Brockwell Centre on Northumbrian Road is the most polished of the town's Indian restaurants, and the one to book for a birthday or a big night out. Its own website describes "elegant Indian cuisine in a rustic dining atmosphere", and there is a cocktail bar as well as the restaurant. Its website also links to a sister restaurant, the Morpeth Tandoori.

What marks Dhamaka out is how seriously it takes dietary needs. It says it is one of the few Indian restaurants offering dedicated vegan options, caters for allergies and intolerances, and will alter dishes on request. It serves sit-in and takeaway six days a week. Book by phone on 01670 736070 or through its website, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

Best for: The pick for a special-occasion curry, and the safest bet for vegan or allergy-aware diners.

Lal Qila

Lal Qila on Dudley Lane is one of Cramlington's longest-running restaurants, a traditional Indian curry house a short walk from Manor Walks. It has the kind of loyal local following that only comes from years of steady cooking, and its neighbour on Dudley Lane is the Chinese restaurant Mandarin Bay.

It holds the top food hygiene rating of 5, confirmed at an inspection in March 2026. We could not find a website or a confirmed phone number for it, so call in, or check its online listings, before you go.

Best for: A familiar town centre curry house, handy before or after the cinema at Manor Walks.

Bay Leaf

Bay Leaf is an Indian restaurant and takeaway on Front Street in Klondyke, on the western side of town. It is an evening restaurant, and the vegan guide HappyCow lists it for its vegetarian starters and mains, most of which can be made vegan on request.

It holds the top food hygiene rating of 5. Opening days vary between listings, so ring 01670 738011 before you go.

Best for: A neighbourhood curry house with plenty for vegetarians.

Moti Jheel

A few doors along Front Street, Moti Jheel at number 3 is the second Indian restaurant on the Klondyke parade. Its website says the kitchen hand cuts its meat on the premises and makes all of its own sauces every day, and that all of its meat and chicken is halal, which makes it a useful choice for anyone who needs halal food.

You can book a table or order a takeaway through its website, or call 01670 737844. It holds a food hygiene rating of 4, from an inspection in September 2026. Its website does not publish opening times, so ring ahead.

Best for: The halal option, with sauces made fresh in house.

Red Naga

Red Naga at 6 Glenluce Court, Southfield Green, is a takeaway rather than a restaurant, but it is the most organised of the town's curry kitchens when it comes to ordering in. As well as the usual curries, it has a set of signature Naga dishes at different heat levels, a dabba meal and set meals for one or two.

Its best-known deal is the Thursday Night Feast: six courses chosen from the whole menu, every Thursday. It opens from 5.30pm to 11pm every day, closing only on Christmas Day, and delivers across Cramlington and to Blyth, Bedlington, Killingworth, Seaton Delaval and Seghill. Order online or call 01670 734020. It holds a food hygiene rating of 4, from an inspection in August 2026.

Best for: The pick for a curry night in, especially on a Thursday.

Annitsford Tandoori

On the southern edge of town, Annitsford Tandoori is an Indian takeaway at 11A Front Street in Annitsford village. It is the nearest curry takeaway for Annitsford, Dudley and the Moor Farm side of Cramlington. It holds a food hygiene rating of 4, from an inspection in December 2025.

Best for: The local curry for Annitsford and the south of town.

Tips for a curry night in Cramlington

  • Book at weekends: Dhamaka, Lal Qila, Bay Leaf and Moti Jheel all get busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Evenings only: most of these open in the late afternoon or evening, so a lunchtime curry is unlikely. For a midday meal out, see our best restaurants guide.
  • Dietary needs: Dhamaka has dedicated vegan options, Bay Leaf can adapt most vegetarian dishes and Moti Jheel uses halal meat throughout. Tell the restaurant about allergies when you book or order, rather than relying on an app listing.
  • Delivery areas: Red Naga publishes its delivery area. For the others, ask when you call, as collection is often quicker on a Friday night.
