Best Chinese and Thai Food in Cramlington

Where to find Chinese and Thai food in Cramlington: Mandarin Bay's all-you-can-eat nights on Dudley Lane, plus Chinese takeaways on Front Street in Klondyke and at the Brockwell Centre.

Cramlington.live·

Cramlington has one sit-down Chinese restaurant and a good spread of Chinese takeaways, most of them in the neighbourhood shopping parades rather than the town centre. There is no dedicated Thai restaurant in the town that we could find, so for a Thai green curry your best bet is the Chinese restaurant that also cooks Thai and Malaysian dishes. This guide covers the restaurant first, then the takeaways we can vouch for.

We checked each one's website, where it has one, and its Food Standards Agency hygiene record in November 2026. Most open in the evening only, and hours change around holidays, so check before you order or set off.

Mandarin Bay

Mandarin Bay is Cramlington's Chinese restaurant, in the Old Parish Hall on Dudley Lane, which it shares with the Indian restaurant Lal Qila. Its menu takes in Malaysian and Thai dishes alongside Cantonese favourites, so it is also the closest thing the town has to a Thai restaurant. Reviewers mention the crispy duck pancakes, honey chilli chicken, salt and pepper squid and Thai green curry most often.

The big draw is the all-you-can-eat menu on Friday and Sunday nights, which the restaurant's website says has run since October 2023. You pay one set price; popular starters, rice, noodles and sauces come from a help-yourself station, while other starters and the mains are cooked to order. It is a good format for a family meal or a group who all want something different. The restaurant also does collection and delivery, ordered through its website.

Booking is by phone on 01670 738333, and is worth doing for the all-you-can-eat nights. It holds the top food hygiene rating of 5, from an inspection in October 2025.

Best for: The only sit-down Chinese in town, and the place for Thai and Malaysian dishes too.

Cramlington Chinese Takeaway

Front Street in Klondyke is the nearest thing Cramlington has to a takeaway row. Cramlington Chinese Takeaway is on the parade, with plenty of customer reviews on the listing sites. It holds the top food hygiene rating of 5, confirmed at an inspection in May 2026.

The same parade has two Indian restaurants, Bay Leaf and Moti Jheel, so it is easy to split a takeaway order between Chinese and curry if the household cannot agree.

Best for: A well-reviewed Chinese on Klondyke's takeaway parade.

Lotus House

Lotus House is a Chinese takeaway in the Brockwell Centre on Northumbrian Road, the shopping parade by the Brockwell roundabout that also has Home Bargains, a pharmacy and a Papa John's. It holds a food hygiene rating of 4, from an inspection in September 2026.

Reviews are mixed: it has plenty of loyal regulars, but some customers have complained about delivery orders. Collecting your order is likely to be quicker at busy times, and you can do the rest of your shopping at the Brockwell Centre while you wait.

Best for: A Chinese to pick up with the rest of the Brockwell shopping.

Other Chinese takeaways

The food hygiene register lists several more Chinese takeaways in and around Cramlington, including others on Front Street in Klondyke, one on Clifton Road at Mayfield Glade and one on Dudley Lane in the old village. We have not been able to confirm enough about them to recommend them yet, but you can check any takeaway's current rating on the FSA website before you order. If one of them is your local favourite, tell us and we will look at adding it.

Tips for ordering Chinese in Cramlington

  • All-you-can-eat: Mandarin Bay's set-price menu runs on Friday and Sunday nights only. Ring to check it is still on before you go.
  • Want Thai? Mandarin Bay is the place in town. For a dedicated Thai restaurant you will need to look further afield, towards Newcastle or the coast.
  • Collection is quicker: on a Friday or Saturday night, collecting from a takeaway is usually faster than waiting for delivery.
  • Allergies: Chinese dishes often contain soy, sesame, peanuts, shellfish and wheat. Ask the restaurant or takeaway directly about allergens before you order.
