Best Electricians in Cramlington
Three Cramlington electricians for rewires, repairs, extensions and emergencies: PD Electrics, Walkergate Electrical and M W Price Electrical Services, plus the checks to make before you book.
Much of Cramlington's housing went up between the 1960s and the 1980s, so many homes still have their original wiring and consumer unit. If you are buying on one of the older estates, a rewire or a new consumer unit is a common early job. In the newer homes on the South West Sector, the jobs are more likely to be extra sockets, outdoor power or an electric vehicle charger.
Below are three electricians based in Cramlington. All three are small, owner-run businesses rather than large contractors, which usually means you deal with the person who does the work. We checked each one's website or trade profile in November 2026. None publishes fixed prices, so ask for a written quote.

PD Electrics
PD Electrics is a Cramlington electrician trading as a limited company registered in 2018. Its website says the electrician has more than 20 years in the trade, holds a JIB card (the electrical industry's skills card) and is DBS checked.
The work covers full and partial rewires, fault finding and repairs, electrics for extensions and new builds, smart home installations, and testing and inspection, which includes the electrical safety reports landlords need. There is a 24/7 emergency line. Call 07732 892583 or use the form on the website.
Best for: rewires and extension work, and electrical safety reports for landlords.
Walkergate Electrical
Walkergate Electrical is run by Alan Ramsden. Despite the name, which may make you think of Walkergate in Newcastle, its website says the business is based in Cramlington, and that it was established in 1996.
It takes on domestic and commercial work, from new circuits and extra sockets to fault repairs and full rewires. It states that it carries full public liability insurance and guarantees its work. Contact details are on its website.
Best for: general domestic work with an electrician who has been around a long time.
M W Price Electrical Services
M W Price Electrical Services is a sole-trader electrician in Cramlington run by Maurice Price. There is no separate website. The business has been a Checkatrade member since 2014, and its profile shows a steady stream of recent reviews from local customers.
Typical jobs include house rewiring, fitting electric showers and cookers, storage heaters and general household electrical work. Get in touch through the Checkatrade profile.
Best for: electric showers, cookers and other everyday jobs with a long-established local electrician.
How to choose an electrician in Cramlington
- Check they can self-certify. Most new circuits, consumer unit replacements and any work in a bathroom are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. An electrician registered with a competent person scheme, such as NICEIC or NAPIT, can sign the work off themselves. If they cannot, the work has to go through Northumberland County Council's building control, which costs extra. You can check registration on the Electrical Competent Person register.
- Ask for the certificate. After notifiable work you should receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, or a Minor Works Certificate for smaller jobs, and later a Building Regulations compliance certificate. Keep them with the house deeds.
- Get a written quote. It should say what is included, such as making good the plaster after a rewire, and how long the work will take.
- Landlords need an EICR. Private landlords in England must have the electrics inspected and tested at least every five years and give tenants a copy of the report.
