Best Breakfast in Cramlington

Where to get a cooked breakfast in Cramlington, from the 8am full English at John the Clerk and the breakfast buffet at Willow Farm to Bettini's in Manor Walks and a 5am Greggs on Nelson Park.

Cramlington.live·

Cramlington is a working town, with two big industrial estates, a hospital and a busy shopping centre, so most breakfasts here are practical: a full English before the shops open, a buffet before a shift, or a bacon roll on the way to work. This guide covers five places for a proper start to the day, from a Wetherspoon in the old village that serves breakfast from 8am to a bakery on Nelson Park that opens at 5am. If you want a slower, later meal with eggs benedict or pancakes, see our brunch guide instead.

Breakfast hours and menus change, and the times below come from each venue's own website. Please check before you set off, especially on Sundays and bank holidays.

John the Clerk of Cramlington

John the Clerk of Cramlington is the town's Wetherspoon, on Low Main Place in the old village. It opens at 8am every day, and its menu lists breakfast from 8am to 12 noon.

The traditional breakfast comes with a fried egg, bacon, a Lincolnshire sausage, baked beans, two hash browns and a slice of toast, and the large breakfast doubles up on most of it and adds mushroom. There are vegetarian and vegan versions, breakfast butties and wraps, and a breakfast muffin deal that includes a drink until noon. Tea and coffee come with refills. Under-18s are admitted until 9pm, so it works for families too.

Best for: The earliest sit-down full English in the old village, with refills on the coffee.

Willow Farm

Willow Farm is a Farmhouse Inns carvery pub on Northumberland Business Park. It opens at 8am, and its website says breakfast is served until 11am.

The draw is the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, which lists pork and veggie sausages, bacon, black pudding, beans, fried and scrambled free-range eggs, plum tomatoes, mushrooms, toast and hash browns. Unlimited tea or coffee is an add-on. If you would rather order from the menu, there are bacon and egg rolls, sausage and egg muffins and eggs on sourdough toast.

Best for: Go hungry: the buffet is the best value if you want seconds.

Bettini's

Bettini's is a small independent cafe inside the Manor Walks shopping centre. The centre lists it as serving homemade breakfasts, lunches and cakes, with opening from 9am Monday to Saturday and 10am on Sunday.

Reviewers mention its cooked breakfasts and bacon sandwiches most often, and the cafe promotes its own blend of freshly ground coffee. The seating is in the mall itself, so it is livelier than a high street cafe, but it is handy if you are in town for the shops or the bus station.

Best for: A homemade cooked breakfast in the middle of Manor Walks.

Muffin Break

Muffin Break at Craster Court in Manor Walks opens at 8am Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday, which makes it one of the earliest places in the centre. Its food is baked in the cafe every day.

This is a lighter breakfast than a fry-up. Muffin Break's breakfast menu lists a bacon and egg roll, a smoked salmon bagel, porridge, savoury croissants and granola pots, alongside its muffins and own-blend coffee.

Best for: The pick for a quick, lighter breakfast before the shops get busy.

Greggs, Nelson Park

For the earliest start in town, the Greggs on Nelson Park industrial estate opens at 5am Monday to Saturday and 6.30am on Sunday, according to the Greggs shop finder. It is a takeaway rather than a sit-down cafe, aimed at the people working on the estate.

It is the place to grab something from the Greggs breakfast range and a coffee before a shift. You can also order through Click and Collect, Just Eat or Uber Eats.

Best for: Open at 5am, long before anywhere else in town.
