About Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC
Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC is the town's rugby union club, first established in 1887 and one of the oldest sporting institutions on this stretch of coast. It plays at Hillheads off Lovaine Avenue, close to the ice rink, and runs senior, junior and social rugby. The clubhouse has a full bar and is also offered for private hire.
The club hosts the Whitley Bay Beer Festival, which has run for over a decade, held over a late-summer weekend with proceeds going to rugby development at the club. The 2026 festival ran from 28 to 30 August. Whitley Bay is roughly 20 minutes' drive from Cramlington. Details were checked in November 2026.
