Supermarkets in Cramlington

Cramlington was planned around a single town centre, and that is still where most of the town does its food shop. Two full-size supermarkets sit in the Manor Walks shopping centre, M&S has a food hall on the retail park next door, Aldi is a few minutes north on Cumbrian Road, and a Tesco Express serves the estates around Brockwell. This guide covers each store, what it offers beyond groceries and when it opens.

All the opening hours below come from each chain's own store page and were correct at the time of writing. Supermarket hours change on bank holidays, at Christmas and sometimes without much notice, so check the store page before you make a special trip.

The big two at Manor Walks

Asda Cramlington

Asda Cramlington is one of the two superstores at Manor Walks (NE23 6QW). As well as the full grocery range and George clothing, Asda's store page lists a Post Office counter, a pizza counter, Scan and Go, a Coinstar coin counting machine, a photo and passport kiosk, and parcel returns for Amazon and toyou.

At the time of writing it opens from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Asda also lists a quieter shopping hour here from 2pm to 3pm, Monday to Thursday, for anyone who finds a busy supermarket hard going.

There is no petrol station at this store. The nearest Asda fuel is the Asda Express at the Moor Farm roundabout in Annitsford, about a mile and a half south.

Best for: Best for: a big weekly shop with a Post Office counter under the same roof.

Sainsbury's Cramlington

Sainsbury's Cramlington (NE23 6RT) is the other superstore at Manor Walks. It opens earliest of the big supermarkets, at 7am, and closes at 10pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday hours of 10am to 4pm at the time of writing.

Inside there is an Argos counter for click and collect, Tu clothing, an in-store bakery and SmartShop self-scanning. Outside, the store has its own petrol station with pay at pump and a jet wash, plus a Costa Express machine and a cash machine that does not charge to withdraw. Sainsbury's lists toilets, baby changing and accessible toilets, and a food donation point.

Best for: Best for: an early start, filling up with fuel and picking up an Argos order in one trip.

M&S Simply Food, Westmorland Retail Park

M&S Simply Food is on Westmorland Retail Park (Unit 1A, NE23 6UY), beside the Manor Walks centre. It opened in February 2014 and is a food-only store: bakery, wine, flowers and plants, ready meals and a food on the move section for lunch.

It is also where Cramlington shoppers collect M&S clothing and home orders, and party food or Christmas food orders placed online. At the time of writing it opens from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, with browsing from 9.45am. The retail park has its own car park.

Best for: Best for: a dinner-for-two deal, a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers on the way home.

Aldi, Cumbrian Road

Aldi Cramlington is on Cumbrian Road by the East West Link Road (NE23 1DA), a short drive from the town centre. It carries Aldi's compact range of groceries, fresh produce, chilled and frozen food, plus the Specialbuys aisle that changes every week. The store was awarded the top food hygiene rating of 5 in March 2026.

Best for: Best for: keeping the weekly bill down.

Tesco Express, Brockwell Centre

There is no large Tesco in Cramlington, but Tesco Express at 3 Brockwell Centre on Northumbrian Road (NE23 1XZ) has the longest hours of the stores in this guide: 6am to 11pm every day at the time of writing. It stocks everyday essentials, fresh food and drinks, and has a cash machine, Payzone bill payments and a Costa Express machine. Tesco also lists rapid delivery from this store through its Whoosh service.

Best for: Best for: milk and bread at 10.30pm.

Corner shops and smaller stores

Cramlington's estates each have a small parade of shops, and several include a convenience store for top-up shopping.
