Skate Parks in Cramlington
Skate parks and wheeled sport in and around Cramlington: the Alexandra Park skate park rebuild due to reopen at the end of 2026, the new pump track, and nearby skate parks at Isabella in Blyth, Whitley Bay and Morpeth.
Cramlington's skate park at Alexandra Park is being rebuilt, but there is still plenty for skateboarders, scooter riders and BMXers in and around town. The new pump track next door is open, and several good concrete parks are a short trip away on the coast and up the A1. This guide covers what is happening in Cramlington and where to ride in the meantime.
Alexandra Park skate park (closed for rebuild)
Cramlington's skate park sits in the Activity Zone at Alexandra Park, the town park just off Dudley Lane. The original concrete park opened in 2008. In July 2026 Cramlington Town Council closed it for a £350,000 rebuild on the same site, with the work carried out by specialist skate park builder Wheelscape and funded through the Cramlington Regeneration Fund.
The new park is due to reopen at the end of 2026 and will have separate areas for beginners and more experienced riders, so younger children and confident skaters can ride without getting in each other's way. Check the Town Council's website for the latest before you go, as building work can run over.
The rest of the Activity Zone, including the activity trail and the multi-use games area, stays open during the work. The Activity Zone is open access all year round, and the nearest car park is off Ganton Avenue.
Alexandra Park pump track
The pump track in the Activity Zone opened in May 2026. It is a looped circuit of rollers and banked turns that you ride by pumping your body rather than pedalling or pushing, and it is suitable for bikes, scooters and skateboards and for all abilities. It is the best place in Cramlington to ride while the skate park is closed, and a good way for beginners to build confidence before the new park opens.
Best for: The pump track is open now and suits everyone from first-time scooter riders to BMXers.
Nearby: Isabella Skatepark, Blyth
The closest alternative is Isabella Skatepark on Ogle Drive in Blyth, east of Cramlington. Blyth Town Council opened it in February 2025, and it was built by Wheelscape, working with local skate group Shred the North. It is designed for skateboarding, BMX and scooters. Blyth Town Council suggests parking in the overflow car park at Isabella Community Centre.
Nearby: Whitley Bay skate park
The skate park on The Links at Whitley Bay, sometimes called the Panama skate park, is a concrete park built by Wheelscape. It has a transition-focused bowl and a street section. It is a short drive south east of Cramlington, near the seafront.
Nearby: Morpeth skate park, Carlisle Park
Morpeth's skate park is in Carlisle Park in the town centre, north of Cramlington up the A1. It is a concrete park that opened in 2005, and it is floodlit.
Tips for skate park visits
- Wear a helmet. Pads are a good idea for beginners, especially on concrete.
- Learn the etiquette. Take turns, wait for the person already riding a line, and do not sit on the ramps or the track.
- Beginners go early. Parks are usually quieter in the morning, which makes it easier for younger or newer riders.
- Check the weather. Concrete parks and pump tracks are slippery when wet, so give them time to dry after rain.
