Pub Quiz Nights in Cramlington

A pub quiz is one of the easiest ways to get to know a town, and Cramlington has a handful of regular ones. This guide covers the three pubs where we found recent evidence of a quiz running in 2026 or close to it.

Quiz nights are the most changeable thing a pub does. They move nights, take breaks over the summer and around Christmas, change quizmaster and sometimes stop altogether. We only give a night or a time where a pub or a recent report has published one, and even then you should check with the pub, or its Facebook page, before you go.

John the Clerk of Cramlington

John the Clerk of Cramlington, the Wetherspoon on Low Main Place in the old village, has the best-documented quiz in town. It runs a dedicated Facebook page for its weekly pub quiz, and that page has advertised Wednesday quizzes through 2026, including an optional fancy-dress quiz on Wednesday 28 October.

We have not seen a 2026 start time or entry price, so check the quiz page for both. As a Wetherspoon, it serves food and drink all evening, and CAMRA lists three regular cask ales plus changing guests, which helps between rounds.

Best for: A weekly Wednesday quiz with its own Facebook page for news and results.

The Bay Horse

The Bay Horse on Sanderson Terrace is a Sizzling Pub. When it reopened after a refurbishment in July 2025, the Northumberland Gazette reported that it hosted a popular quiz every Monday from 8pm and a sports quiz every Sunday from 7pm, with a darts night on Wednesdays. The pub's Facebook page has continued to post about quiz winners and the sports quiz since.

Those days and times come from summer 2025, so treat them as a starting point and confirm with the pub. If the quiz is still on a Sunday, it pairs well with the pub's Sunday roast.

Best for: Two quizzes a week, one of them for sports fans, as last reported.

The Brockwell Seam

The Brockwell Seam at the Brockwell Centre is an estate local in the south of town. The pub has promoted "our weekly quiz night" on its Facebook page, and a visitor review from August 2026 mentions the pub being busy for the quiz. We could not find a current night or start time, so ask the pub or check its Facebook page before you go.

CAMRA lists sports TV, a garden and food from noon to 9pm, so you can eat before the questions start.

Best for: A weekly quiz at a neighbourhood local; check the night first.

Pubs we checked without finding a quiz

We looked for current quiz nights at the Plough, Willow Farm and the Lord of the Manor and found nothing recent enough to list. That does not mean there is never a quiz, so if your local runs one, let us know and we will add it.

Tips for a good quiz night

• Check the night before you go. Quizzes are often paused for big football matches, bank holidays and the Christmas season.
• Arrive early. Popular quizzes fill tables well before the first question, and you may want to order food first.
• Mind the team size. Many pub quizzes cap teams at around six people. Ask on arrival if you are a big group.
• Bring cash just in case. Entry is often a pound or two per person, and some pubs collect it in cash.
• Phones away. Every quiz has this rule, and most quizmasters enforce it.
